The District Sports Office of Dhemaji is situated at Dhemaji Indoor Stadium campus, Kulapathar. The office is under the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare which is located at Supermarket, Dispur, Guwahati-06, Assam. The staff strength of the District Sports Office, Dhemaji is as follow:-
The department is serving with heart and soul as human resource department. The District Sports Office carefully and dedicatedly follow and comply the order and guidelines of state authority as well as district authority. The games and sports is now an important and essential part of one’s life. The youth of the country comprising about 30% of the total population between the age group 15-35 constitutes a vital and vibrant human resource of the nation. The people have a right as well as an obligation to make their contribution in national affairs in general and national development in particular. Increasing opportunities to young person to enable them to develop their personality, upgrade their functional capabilities make themselves economically productive and socially useful is fully recognized.
The importance of participation in sports and physical education activities for good health, a high degree of physical fitness increases in individual productivity and also its value as a means of beneficial recreation promoting social harmony and disciplines is well established. It is the duty of the central and state government, therefore to accord to sports and physical education a very high priority in the process of all round development. They should promote and develop traditional and modern games and sports and also yoga by providing the necessary facilities and infrastructure on large scale by their regular participation in sports and physical education activities the nation is made healthy, fit and strong.

Mission:-
To provide sports infrastructure and high technological equipments, innovative programs, providing training and coaching, organizing sports competitions for development of skills to perform at national and international level.
Objectives:-
Roles and responsibilities:-
The foremost roles and responsibilities of the office is to provide facilities for all around development of the people of the district. To develop them physically, mentally, socially, spiritually to become a good citizen of the country. These can be achieved solely by organizing innovative program in the district, mainly in schools and colleges.
Public service delivered by department and process.
The office has been rendering service to the region from last 24 years (Date-01/05/1996) and has taken many steps for development of the area. Games and sports competitions, coaching camps were being organized regularly under the Director of Sports & Youth Welfare department from which many players have emerged and have participated in national levels. 13 Physical Instructors has been engaged in different schools for the welfare of the students of the district.
Some of the competitions organized yearly by this department under the Director of Sports & Youth Welfare Assam are as follows.
To provide sports infrastructure to the people of the district, many sports projects are going on and will be completed within short period which would change the environment of the area and more people will get attracted to sports.

Schemes in progress
Under the Chief Minister’s Special Package scheme 2013-14, (3) three projects has been going on in the area. The budget allotted for the three projects are:-
Under the Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) 12 (twelve) nos of playfield development work has been going on. The budget allotted for each playfield is Rs. 20 lakhs.
